AUSTRALIAN 1933 RUGBY UNION TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA AND RHODESIA.
A piece of paper signed on both sides in pencil and ink by all thirty members of the Australian rugby union team and the manager who toured South Africa and Rhodesia in 1933. (Three signatures are in ink, twenty-seven in pencil).
The Australian rugby union team was made up of the manager, fifteen players from New South Wales, twelve players from Queensland, and two players from Victoria. Signatures of the New South Wales players in the team comprise: Ron Biilmann, G.V. Bland, C. Campbell, W.H. Cerutti, M. Grace, A. Hodgson, J. Kelaher, R.B. Louden, E.W. Love, F. McPhillips, W. Mackney, S. J. Malcolm, M. F. Morton, Dr. A. W. Ross (Captain) and J. Young. Signatures of the Queensland players in the team comprise: G. Bennett, E. Bonis, J. Clarke, G. Cooke, B. Doneley, D. McLean, J. Ritter, J. Steggall, G. S. Sturtridge, W. Warlow, M. White and W. G. White. Signatures of the Victoria players in the team comprise: O. J. Bridle and D. Cowper. Also signed by the manager W.F. Matthews. This tour comprised a series of 23 rugby union matches played by the Australia national team in 1933. These include a five Test match series against South Africa, who won three of the five games. With exception of two of the Victorians, the team departed from Sydney aboard the "Ulysses" on Anzac Day, 25th April 1933.
