This annual was published over twenty years, covering the West Indies seasons between 1894-95 and 1913-14. The front wrapper is an integral part of the book and is effectively its title-page, with details of publisher and date of publication. Printed on inferior quality paper few of these annuals survive. Taylor, Catalogue of Cricket Literature, 1906, page 13: 'The early issues of this valuable annual are difficult to obtain...The first number was sold out within a few weeks of publication...' LIMITED EDITION of 250 numbered copies, SIGNED BY LEN WILKINSON AND THE AUTHOR. Wilkinson played for Lancashire between 1937 and 1947, and three Test matches for England during this series. This account of the 1938-39 MCC tour of South Africa, with full scores of the matches, includes a day-by-day account of the famous Timeless Test match, played over ten days. With reprints of two pre-tour brochures for the tour. The MCC team included Bill Edrich, Ken Farnes, Tom Goddard, Walter Hammond, Len Hutton, Eddie Paynter, Hedley Verity and Len Wilkinson. They were undefeated on the tour and won the Test series by virtue of their victory in the third Test match, the only Test match to reach a conclusion. The final Test lasted ten days and is the longest match in the history of first-class cricket. England were set 696 runs to win and had reached 654 for five wickets before the game was drawn, as the MCC team had to catch the ship home. With forewords by Len Wilkinson (England) and Norman Gordon (South Africa).

The MCC team was the strongest yet to tour South Africa, despite players of the calibre of Hobbs, Sutcliffe, Hearne and Parkin declining the invitation to tour. Captained by F.T. Mann, England won the series.
