ALFRED DIVER. BORN AT CAMBRIDGE, JULY 6TH 1824. An original large hand-coloured lithograph by John Corbet Anderson, after a drawing by the same artist, depicting the cricketer Alfred Diver. Published in London by F. Lillywhite & Wisden, 18th July, 1858. Size 19cms x 29cms. Margins extra. Preserved in cut mount. Margins expertly repaired, not affecting the image. Diver played for Cambridgeshire between 1857 and 1866. In the mid nineteenth century Anderson produced a series of well-observed lithograph portraits of contemporary cricketers.
