With a new introduction and notes by John Goulstone, who has traced the author of this poem. A scathing attack aimed at the Duke of Dorset and the Earl of Tankerville, accusing them of spending too much time playing cricket while Britain was fighting the American War of Independence: '...Far from the cannon's roar, they try at cricket, stead their country to secure a wicket.' [WOOLLEY, F.E.].
A Royal Grafton china plate bearing a central portrait of Frank Woolley, encircled by bats and stumps, each containing details of one of his hundred first-class centuries. The design is completed by a border of balls and bails and edged in gold.
[Issued in 1994].
Diameter 23cms. Preserved in silk-lined presentation box. Good condition.
LIMITED EDITION of 500 plates. Produced to commemorate Woolley's 100th first-class century, scored in 1929. In his career Woolley made 145 first-class centuries. Woolley played for Kent between 1906 and 1938. He played 64 Test matches for England between 1909 and 1934.

A heavy pale green Jasper Ware china mug, the body moulded in relief in white, titled: Worcestershire County Cricket Club Champions 1964. Decorated with relief representations of a bowler, a batsman, fielders, and the county ground, with the XIth century cathedral in the background.

This jug was produced in 1964 to commemorate Worcestershire winning the County Championship for the first time..
