C.C. MORRIS'S BOOK, WITH HIS SIGNATURE OF OWNERSHIP, DATED MAY 1898, on the front endpaper. Morris (1882-1971) played for Philadelphia between 1901 and 1913. The cricket library at Haverford College was named in his honour. The author was helped considerably by his friend C.B. Fry. Altham, History of Cricket, 1926: 'Still one of the very best books yet written. Much of the book is technical instruction, but incidental to it is much of historical interest.' This was selected by C.J. Britton in his 1929 publication Cricket Books. The 100 Best: 'This book is still amongst the best general works.' Padwick, 467.
