...No. I didn't know of the biography; but all those big Liberals wanted to write their lives. I did Grey or aided in his Autobio...safe man. J.A.S... The letter is written to the journalist and author J.W. Robertson-Scott (1866-1942). JAS refers to John Alfred Spender (1862-1942) who was a British journalist, newspaper editor and author. He was a member of the Liberal Party and edited the Westminster Gazette between 1896 and 1922. Fry (1872-1956) played for Oxford University between 1892 and 1895, for Sussex between 1894 and 1908, for Hampshire between 1909 and 1921, and for England between 1896 and 1912. He was one of the most talented of all English sportsmen, and also played soccer for England and held the world long jump record.
