DAFT, (Richard).
An interesting two page signed autograph letter from Richard Daft to Charles Pratt Green. Regarding his forthcoming publication Kings of Cricket. Headed Radcliffe-on-Trent and dated 20th April 1892:
In franked envelope, addressed in Daft's hand: 'C.P. Green Esq, Beresford House, Great Malvern.'
...I am writing my publishers & when I get their reply I will write Mr. Allcock [sic] direct. I don't think there will be any objection at all to his making quotations from the work when he thinks well & as you say it would be an excellent help to the sale when it appears in Book form... Daft (1835-1900) played for Nottinghamshire between 1858 and 1891. At one time regarded as the best professional batsman in England. He headed the first-class averages in 1867 and was second in 1869, 1870, 1871 and 1873.
