Charles Pratt Green and Thomas Padwick were two of the earliest cricket book collectors. Pratt Green was also an avid collector of cricket bats. Published the same year that Wisden's Cricketers' Almanack first appeared. Bayly's Cricket Chronicle was unable to match this competition, and no further volume appeared.
