This is a scathing attack aimed at the Duke of Dorset and the Earl of Tankerville, accusing them of spending too much time playing cricket while Britain was fighting the American War of Independence:...Far from the cannon's roar, they try at cricket, stead their country to secure a wicket.
A facsimile reprint of the book first published in 1778, with a new introduction and notes by John Goulstone, who has traced the author of this poem.
