Miller played for Surrey between 1851 and 1867.
He was responsible for the sale of volumes 3 and 4 of Scores and Biographies but was so disappointed with their poor sales that he destroyed the unsold volumes.
Scores of every important match played between 1841 and 1848, with biographies of many of the cricketers involved.

Volumes I-IV were published in 1862 and 1863 by Lillywhite, volumes V-XV were published between 1876 and 1925 by Longmans on behalf of Marylebone Cricket Club, volumes XVI to date have been published by R. Heavens.
