An interesting two page autograph letter (signed Wal) from W.R. Hammond, to an unnamed correspondent. Headed 10 St. Edmunds Terrace, St. John's Wood, NW8. Dated June 19th (c.1940).


...It may be possible that I shall be playing in Bradford on July 8th and I am naturally wanting to make some arrangements do you think it would be wise for me to come and stay at Sam's...and if so would Sam motor me over to Bradford for the match?... London is not too pleasant with these funny things flying about in the air, but there it is... Hammond (1903-1965) played for Gloucestershire between 1920 and 1951, and for England between 1927 and 1947.
